If your child would like to start learning a musical instrument at school, this could be your opportunity! My name is Lesley Milward and I work for the West Sussex Music Trust. I have been lucky enough to be the violin teacher at St Peter’s School for the past 12 years and have seen several of my pupils progress to play in the County Youth Orchestra and beyond, although I get just as much pleasure and satisfaction from seeing pupils just enjoying playing. I currently have spaces available for violin or viola lessons but I would really love St Peter’s to become a specialist viola school for the county as this is, in my opinion, a very special and under-played instrument. It’s taught and played in a very similar way to the violin but the sounds are lower. Viola players are always in demand too! If you think you might be interested in applying for lessons on either the violin or viola (but particularly the viola), and your son/daughter is in Year 2 or above, then please speak to the office who will give you my contact details. I’d be very happy to talk to you if you have any questions. In the meantime, you might like to look at the Music Trust website www.westsussexmusic.co.uk for more detailed information about what we offer and how the lessons are organised.
